You do not know me, but I found your email on the website Santee Pictures in a thread about Lawrence family genealogy. I hope this email finds you well!

I do not know how to post to that site, but would like to. I think it is great!

I am working on the Lawrence family tree because of one of its matriarchs -- Totidutawin -- Her Scarlet House aka "Catherine." Her son was named Lorenzo Lawrence, so I am assuming she married a Lawrence. I have a Levi Lawrence (b. 1858) who is the son of Lorenzo and Sakemazawin aka Fanny. I do not have a George H. Lawrence, but Lorenzo had a brother I do not have a name for so I am wondering if he is related to this brother.

Anyone who has any information about the Lawrences, or about a Santee woman named Scarlet House, I would be so appreciative!

I would like to post a photo I have (unidentified) of two Santee women, but I do not know how to upload photos there.

Does anyone have info re. lorenzo lawrence's son Edwin lawrence?

I have sent a personal message to Taylor Spence, but he has not contacted me.
On the Spirit Lake enrollment we have Hotonhowaste #541 (1833-1899)
(Nice or good sounding howl). He had another name Wasicuncatka (Left Handed Spirit).
One of his sons was #545 Ed Lawrence or Wakanhdiheyamani (1887-1971). (Walking speaking like Lighting).
I don't know if this is the family of Totidutawin that Mr. Spence is looking for.

I have not checked the probate files here at Spirit Lake for Ed Lawrence.
I knew him shortly before his death in 1971.
I don't know when I can look at the files.
